InVentry Work Experience Placement

Last week we had Daniel Newton from St John Fishers Catholic Voluntary Academy visit us as part of his one-week work experience placement. Daniel’s currently studying Maths, Physics and ICT and is on track to do well in all his a-levels.

Before we tell you about his journey into the working world, we wanted to first define work experience and the amazing benefits it has on pupils across the UK. Most college students don’t have dedicated career aspirations at such a young age so a work placement allows them to gain valuable experience, see a snapshot of what work in different fields looks like and identify if it’s for them.

Like so many others, Daniel didn’t have a direct plan for his career, so our InVentry placement incorporated all departments – from working alongside our Internal Sales and Support Teams right through to Finance and Development. During Daniel’s fourth day with InVentry he, alongside our Events Co-ordinator – Rhiannon Cole, visited one of our external print suppliers; AB Print Group Ltd.

Here Daniel was introduced to not only the working relationship between AB Print and our Marketing Department but also the printing techniques, design processes and finishing department of a well-established print company.

Before Daniel waved goodbye on his last day here he commented “This week has been a total eye opener, InVentry has been amazing as a work experience placement! Everyone is so friendly and really took the time to get to know me and my aspirations. It’s made me really excited for the future and I really want a job at InVentry!”.

When speaking to Daniel’s Supervisor at InVentry, Nad Yaqub, he also commented “We’re over the moon with Daniel’s progression since joining the team, he’s really got stuck in asking lots of questions and getting involved. Throughout his time here he’s been professional, attentive and punctual – St John Fishers should be proud to have a student such as Daniel represent them!”
